Windows Task Scheduler to call web page URL at specific intervals

8 Feb

In this post we will learn how to use Windows Task Scheduler to call web page URL at specific intervals.

Basically windows scheduler did not run web page URL’S directly so we need to create a batch file that need to be scheduled.

Create .vbs file that need to run the URL with name url.vbs

Option Explicit
Dim obj
Set obj = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
obj.Navigate "http://venkatbaggu.com/"
obj.visible = true
While obj.Busy
Wend
obj.Quit
Set obj = Nothing

Next step is we need to create .bat file to execute the .vbs file

cscript.exe "drive location \url.VBS"

Once we have url.bat file, we can use the windows task scheduler to run the batch file.
